Clacify's Number to Words converter writes any number as words using the Indian numbering system — lakhs and crores — as used in Indian bank cheques, invoices, and legal documents. For example, 12,50,000 becomes 'Twelve Lakh Fifty Thousand'. Used by accountants, finance teams, and anyone writing amounts on bank instruments.
On Indian bank cheques, write the amount in Indian numbering format, then add 'Rupees' before it and 'Only' after it: ₹1,25,000 = 'Rupees One Lakh Twenty Five Thousand Only'. The Indian numbering system groups digits differently from the Western system: 1,00,000 = One Lakh (100 thousand), 10,00,000 = Ten Lakh (1 million), 1,00,00,000 = One Crore (10 million). After crore, the next major unit is 100 Crore = One Arab. Commas are placed after the first 3 digits from the right, then every 2 digits.
