About PDF Watermark

Watermark PDF stamps text or an image watermark across the pages of a PDF — "CONFIDENTIAL," "DRAFT," your name, or a logo — directly in your browser. Watermarks protect documents from misuse, mark drafts clearly, or brand your files before sharing. You control the text, opacity, size, angle, and position, and apply it to every page at once. Because the file is processed locally with no upload, confidential documents stay private while you protect them.

Why Use PDF Watermark?

How It Works

The PDF is loaded with the client-side pdf-lib library. For each page, the tool draws your watermark — text rendered in a chosen font, or an embedded image — at the opacity, scale, rotation, and position you set, layered over the existing content. The watermarked PDF is then serialised for download. All rendering happens locally in the browser, so the document is never sent to a server.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to add a watermark to a PDF for free?

Upload your PDF to Clacify's PDF Watermark tool. Enter your watermark text (e.g. 'CONFIDENTIAL'), choose font size, colour, and opacity (50–70% is typical for visible but non-intrusive watermarks), and click Apply. Download the watermarked PDF — all pages are watermarked in one step.

Can watermarks be removed from PDFs?

Text watermarks added on the content layer (as PDF text objects) can potentially be removed with PDF editing software if they are not flattened. For better protection, use semi-transparent watermarks covering the entire page. Truly tamper-proof protection requires DRM (Digital Rights Management) software, which goes beyond a simple watermark.
