The PDF Text Editor lets you change what's on a PDF page and download the result — all in your browser, with no upload. The most reliable way to "edit" text works on every PDF (even scanned ones): use White-out to cover the old text, then Add Text to type the replacement on top in any font, size, and colour. You can also add text, labels, and notes anywhere — ideal for filling non-interactive forms and completing documents. On text-based PDFs there's also a best-effort in-place edit (click a word to change it, with closest-font matching). Because everything runs locally, confidential contracts, payslips, and medical records never leave your device.
The PDF is rendered to a canvas with pdf.js. "Add Text" places new text boxes at your chosen position; "White-out" draws white rectangles over existing content so you can cover and replace it; the optional in-place edit reads each text item's position and font via pdf.js and redraws your change at the same coordinates using the closest standard font (Helvetica, Times, or Courier). On save, pdf-lib applies the white-out rectangles, added text, and any in-place edits to the document and serialises it for download. True font-for-font editing of embedded fonts isn't possible in any browser tool, which is why white-out & replace is the dependable approach. No server is involved.
