PDF to Word converts a PDF into an editable Word-compatible document so you can change the text instead of retyping it. It extracts the text content from each page and produces a .docx file you can open in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or LibreOffice. This is invaluable when you receive a PDF — a contract, a form letter, a report — and need to edit it but no longer have the original source file. The conversion runs in your browser, so confidential documents are not sent to any third-party server. Results are best for text-based PDFs; heavily designed or scanned image PDFs convert with simpler formatting.
The tool parses the PDF with a client-side engine (pdf.js) to extract text along with basic positioning and reading order from each page, then assembles that content into a Word-compatible .docx document. Paragraph breaks and simple text flow are reconstructed from the layout information in the PDF. Because PDFs store text as positioned glyphs rather than structured paragraphs, complex multi-column layouts, tables, and exact styling may simplify during conversion, and scanned (image-only) PDFs have no extractable text without OCR. For standard text documents, the result is a faithful, editable copy. Everything is processed locally.

PDF and Word are fundamentally different formats. PDFs fix layout precisely; Word files are reflowable. Complex layouts with columns, tables, decorative fonts, or headers/footers may not convert perfectly. Simple text PDFs (letters, resumes, reports) convert with high fidelity. For scanned PDFs, you need an OCR tool first.
